Butler and Willow

Storage and interiors specialist Butler & Willow has completed a £300,000 project for Games Workshop ahead of deadline and without any loss of productivity.

Long-Eaton based Butler & Willow took part in a seven-way pitch for the contract to design and install a 1600sqm mezzanine floor at Games Workshop's EuroHub distribution centre in Lenton, Nottingham. Conditions of the brief included minimal loss of productivity, work to take place at night or during the weekend only and a strict 10 week deadline.

A team of up to ten people worked from 10pm until 6am during weekdays, and some weekends, to successfully complete the project three days ahead of schedule and with zero minutes lost productivity for Games Workshop.

Jonathan Butler, Butler & Willow director, said: "This project was a challenge for us but the entire team worked hard and exceeded expectations. As well as carrying out all our work during the night, we had to install the mezzanine floor over existing conveyors, machinery and racking. The design, manufacture and build took considerable time and dedication to make sure the mezzanine columns sat perfectly in their designed positions without compromising any health and safety issues."

Butler & Willow also supplied fire protection and power and lighting for the underside of the floor as well as a goods lift to service the new floor area.

The new mezzanine floor has now freed up sufficient floor space for another of Games Workshops' operations to be accommodated at the site.
