Giving US-based global logistics company more space to work, meet and relax

Expeditors employs over 14,600 staff at over 250 locations across six continents. At its distribution depot at Castle Donington where it handles air freight, it needed to expand office space, improve the area allocated for staff breaks/lunchtimes and provide a new meeting room. This work had to be undertaken while the firm continued to operate so minimal disruption was essential and for security reasons all external doors had to remain closed.

Our solution

To meet the needs of Expeditors, we erected a new structure of approximately 100m² next to the current downstairs office within the warehouse and partitioned the space to create three new separate areas including a more welcoming canteen with new furniture, a modern kitchen with a larger entrance, a private distribution office, new meeting room and included new contemporary office furniture.

What we did

  • Arrow While the business was in operation, we partitioned the existing space to create three new separate areas
  • Arrow A brighter and more welcoming canteen was added, in which staff can sit and relax
  • Arrow A new, modern kitchen with a larger entrance, giving much more open and congenial area in which to make drinks or warm food was created
  • Arrow A new, private distribution office and meeting room with a white wall, projector and air conditioning were added
  • Arrow New office furniture in on-brand colours of red and grey was included

I was nervous of the possible disruption that the work could have caused the business but, in truth, we hardly noticed that Butler & Willow were here. We’re very happy with the finished work – so much so that B&W are already in the process of planning our next project for us!
