Premier Nutrition, one of the world’s leading providers of nutrition information and micro-ingredients to animal food manufacturers, was reorganising a production area to release additional floor space for raw material storage. The company invited Butler & Willow to help design an extended pallet-racking scheme to accommodate a near 100% capacity increase.
We undertook a full survey of the existing racking to assess its suitability in the context of the new expansion and possible future developments and due to its age, the survey indicated that the racking was unsuitable for use. Premier Nutrition’s subsequent decision to start afresh greatly simplified the process. We constructed a completely new racking system which doubled the size of the old storage area. We introduced additional flexibility by providing 2,500 kg capacity beams and timber decks meaning that any size or weight of pallet could be stored.
The project went very smoothly and met the client’s programme. We handed the first phase over to the client at the end of week one: this gave them the pallet spaces required to re-locate the existing stock. It meant that the racking that was to be removed could be released for dismantling, and enabled phase two to be carried out, and the project completed, on time and on budget.Butler & Willow
